VITICULTURE
75% Cabernet Franc and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from premium Hawke’s Bay vineyards in Bridge Pa, Hawke's Bay. In 2024 there was some cool weather during flowering that resulted in much lower than average yields. These reduced crop loads and fine warm weather throughout the rest of the growing season produced intensely flavoured fruit.

WINEMAKING
The fruit was gently pressed on arrival at the winery to minimize time on skins. The result is a very soft juice with a lovely pale pink colour. Fermentation was in stainless steel tanks at a low temperature, to retain the full varietal flavour of the fruit. This wine contains no animal products.

TASTING NOTES
The Gaia Project Rosé 2024
The colour is pale pink. The nose is sweet and lifted with intense aromas of crushed raspberries and red stone fruit. The palate is just off-dry, and the sweetness of the natural fruit is balanced with a mouth-watering acidity that gives the wine a juicy sensation. The phenolics are soft yet present, filling the wine out and adding length to the crushed berry flavours.

Cellar potential

Fresh is best for this style of Rose. The bright, fruity characters will
diminish with time but the wine will still be enjoyable for up to 2 years
from the vintage date.

REGION

REGION REGION

Hawke’s Bay

Located on the east coast of the North Island, Hawke's Bay wine region is one of the warmest winegrowing regions in New Zealand. The long and warm growing season provides for excellent ripening conditions and full flavour development.

New Zealand Winegrowing

Central to the success of New Zealand as a world-renowned wine growing region is the temperate maritime climate and the free-draining alluvial soils.

The growing season is long, providing perfect conditions for slow ripening and full flavour development. Cool nights and warm days retain fruit acidity which lends a freshness and vibrancy, highly characteristic of New Zealand wine styles.

Soils

Gravel beds, free-draining alluvial soils and stony terraces.

Growing season

Warm and dry delivering intense and characterful wines.
