Mission Estate appoints Michael Wentworth as Chief Executive
Napier, New Zealand – 9 February 2026

Mission Estate Winery is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Wentworth as Chief Executive, effective 9 February 2026.

 Wentworth brings extensive leadership experience in wine and hospitality, with a proven track record of driving growth, shaping brands and inspiring high-performing teams. He joins as the business celebrates its 175th year, guiding the evolution of a portfolio that includes the historic Mission Estate Winery, iconic entertainment and hospitality venues and a diverse range of ventures continuing a legacy of excellence and innovation.

 Chair of the Board, Phil Hocquard, said the Board was delighted with the appointment. “Michael is a highly respected leader with a clear strategic vision and values that strongly align with Mission Estate. His experience and leadership style make him well placed to guide the business forward.” 

 Prior to joining Mission Estate, Wentworth held the CEO role at Appellation Marlborough Wine as well as being a respected Business Adviser. He has had a rich career in the wine industry including a range of roles at Yealands and is recognised for his ability to lead teams through change while maintaining a strong focus on culture, performance and long-term value.

 Wentworth said he was honoured to be joining the company. “Mission Estate has a proud history and a strong reputation for quality. I’m excited to work with the Board and team to build on this legacy and to continue delivering value for our people, customers and partners.”

 Wentworth succeeds Peter Holley who has made a significant contribution to the business over a 30-year tenure. The Board thanks Peter for his leadership and wishes him every success.
