Wineries of the bay

The fine food and service which have made the Mission Estate Winery one of Hawke's Bay’s most highly-acclaimed dining establishments, are matched by corresponding recognition for its wines.

This year alone has brought four gold awards from four reputable wine shows.
Firstly for the Jewelstone Chardonnay at the 2005 New Zealand International Wine Awards, then for the 2004 Reserve Chardonnay at the Mercedes Benz Hawkes Bay Wine Awards. That was followed by the 2004 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon at the Air New Zealand Wine Awards and most recently, a Blue-Gold and Top 100 Award for the 2005 Mission Reserve Syrah at the 2005 Sydney International Wine Awards.
 
Mission Estate’s cellar now produces 15 wine styles, including chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, gewürztraminer, riesling, syrah, several cabernets and pinots, merlot and viognier.

All available at the cellar door and made from grapes sourced from Hawke's Bay. They represent the full diversity of the region’s wine territory, from the alluvial land around Greenmeadows, to the Gimblett Gravels and sun-baked inland river terraces.

Visit the cellar door to try their extensive range of award winning wines and, for those interested in history, the twice daily estate tour is a must.

Lunch or dinner can be enjoyed seven days in the renowned Mission Restaurant, (open 10.00am ‘til late) and the adjoining Chapel provides the ideal venue for a picturesque wedding reception or conference.

Cellar Door opening hours are Monday to Saturday 9.00am – 5.00pm and Sunday 10.00am – 4.30pm. Public Tours take place at 10.30 and 2pm.
