A lot to be learned at expo for traders

Havelock North Village Press

The challenges of successful exporting are significant for small and emerging businesses, says Mission Estate chief executive Peter Holley. "The Exporters Expo being run by the Hawke's Bay Chamber of Commerce Exporters Club offers local businesses a great opportunity to hear real life stories from successful exporters.

"In addition to hearing how others have done it, the convenience of networking with other businesses who have a similar interest and service suppliers, emerging exporters will be able to discuss the export process one-on-one with experts and gain an understanding of the requirements necessary to become an exporter.

"The Expo will also allow them to discuss their products with service providers and learn how they can help you export," says Peter.

The sheer costs of travel and transport in addition to the risks involved in establishing relationships and distribution channels make it critical that businesses thoroughly research markets and opportunities that exist for selling their products.

Mission estate has taken a long term view to exporting and has carefully nurtured relationships with distributors and wholesalers so that their products are well received and the brand values are maximised.

Ultimately, we are hopeful that this will result in significant growth in export demand and good outcomes for the company and hawke's bay, Peter says.

The Exports Expo will be held from 4pm, at the War Memorial Complex, Marine parade, Napier on Thursday with tickets costing $35.
