Mission Estate has produced what it believes is the best ever Syrah in the winery’s 157 year history.
The Jewelstone Syrah 2007 is the result of years of preparation and vine management and is made from selected hand-harvested grapes grown on Mission Estate’s Mere Road vineyard on the edge of the Gimblett Gravels.
Mission Estate winemaker Paul Mooney says the winery is very proud of the Jewelstone Syrah 2007.
“Over the past 157 years Mission Estate has developed a reputation for the production of award winning wines. The knowledge gained over the many vintages has enabled Mission to produce and appreciate wines that offer outstanding quality and value for money.
“The Jewelstone Syrah 2007 truly is an exceptional wine. A combination of terrior and stringent site selection, use of the ‘Precision Viticulture’ technique and the meticulous care and management of micro zones within the vineyard has resulted in a premium wine featuring a harmonious blend of power, elegance, intensity and structure.
“Syrah is growing in popularity in New Zealand and we look forward to making the Jewelstone Syrah 2007 available to our customers to try and enjoy.”
The Jewelstone Syrah 2007 has a deep and vibrant colour, with heightened dark berry aromas. The palate is full-bodied with fine soft tannins that are truly ripe and provide the wine with a beautiful texture. The wine has great finesse with good intensity and a long generous finish.
The Jewelstone Syrah 2007 has a cellar potential of 10-20 years retails for $45 per bottle.
