Overwhelming demand for Mission Estate Winery’s Sauvignon Blanc has seen the 2007 vintage sell out far quicker than anticipated, and resulted in the earliest bottling of the 2008 vintage for the Mission yet. Mission Estate’s chief winemaker, Paul Mooney says the winery began bottling the 2008 Estate label Sauvignon Blanc today following strong sales of the 2007 vintage.
“Our 2007 Estate Sauvignon Blanc vintage sold much quicker than forecasted, which has led us to release our 2008 vintage a good two months earlier than the industry standard,” he says.
“Mission Estate Winery has always been a strong Chardonnay and Bordeaux reds producer, but demand for our Sauvignon Blanc has been growing steadily over the last year. It is exciting to see Mission Estate Winery continuing its steady growth in such a competitive market.”
Mission’s Estate Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the winery’s Hawke’s Bay vineyards and contract growers, and Mooney says the high demand is a strong indication that Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc is increasing in quality and popularity.
2008 Mission Estate Sauvignon Blanc will be on sale at the Cellar Door from Wednesday 15th May, making Mission one of the first wineries in the southern hemisphere to launch their 2008 vintage wines.
