Caine's comments:  

Ian and Alison's vineyard is further up Ohiti Road and borders brother George Gunn, who also supplies Mission Estate. The soil is very consistent to neighbouring vineyards and consists mainly of silt loam over shingle. The climate is slightly cooler than further down Ohiti Road. The site suits aromatic varieties and has the ability to ripen riesling to its full potential. Ian is the only grower of riesling for our Estate range, and also produces very good quality sauvignon blanc that usually forms the basis of the Vineyard Selection Sauvignon Blanc. The wines produced from this block have good flavours and are backed with fresh clean acidity.
