The Chardonnay Revolution

1983 was a very good year for Chardonnay. That was when Paul Mooney, a talented and innovative young wine maker with Mission Estate decided to craft New Zealand first barrel fermented chardonnay using a traditional French technique.
The result was modestly described as a delicious wine that aged very well up to 10 years. In retrospect, you could also describe it as the beginning of a new era for New Zealand Chardonnay.
Paul has gone on to become one of the most experienced winemakers in the country and fortunately for us, he is still crafting delicious wine at Mission Estate.
Our passion for making great Chardonnay remains. Once you taste our wine we think you will agree.
